Reforestation Efforts Gain Momentum
In
2025, global reforestation projects surged. On May 20, Brazil launched a
campaign planting 10 million trees in the Amazon, aiming to combat
deforestation. Over 5,000 volunteers participated, restoring 2,000 hectares, a
vital step toward preserving biodiversity and reducing carbon emissions.
Ocean
conservation saw progress with the Ocean Cleanup initiative. On June 1, their
new system removed 50 tons of plastic from the Pacific Garbage Patch. Deployed
near Hawaii, this technology uses solar-powered drones, protecting marine life
and reducing pollution significantly.
Renewable Energy Adoption Soars
Renewable
energy adoption accelerated worldwide. On June 10, India inaugurated its
largest solar farm in Rajasthan, generating 2,000 MW, powering 1 million homes.
This project, spanning 5,000 acres, supports India’s goal to achieve 50%
renewable energy by 2030, cutting fossil fuel reliance.
Urban Green Spaces Flourish
Cities
embraced green spaces to combat urban heat. On June 12, Singapore opened its
largest rooftop garden, spanning 10 acres atop a commercial building. Featuring
500 native plant species, it reduces temperatures by 5°C, offering residents a
sustainable, serene environment.
